We have been in existence in the Ship Recycling market for over 50 years. The group forayed in to Ship Recycling in the year 1965 in Kolkata, around the same time first few ships arrived here for recycling. Ever since, the company has been in continuous business and existence and is now run by the third generation of the family.
After several years of highs and lows, the company was restructured in the year 2003 and re-named as “Kasturi Commodities Private Limited”. Along with the permanent yard at Alang, Gujarat it was decided to start operations in Mumbai as well. While our yard at Alang is ISO 30000 certified, the Mumbai facility follows the same set of standards though certification is not possible due to the non allotment of permanent facilities by the Mumbai Port Trust.
Collectively over the years we have done 200 vessels including 3 VLCC’s.
At present we have active operations in Alang & Mumbai. We have dormant facilities for Ship Recycling at Sachana, Vizag and Kolkata. Alongside Ship Recycling the company is also into allied businesses which are described in successive heads.
